BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul reaffirmed the government’s firm stance against corruption at Thailand’s International Anti-Corruption Day event today (Dec 9). Held at Hall 4, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Muang Thong Thani under the theme “HERO OF THE TRUTH—Join Together to Stop Corruption,” the prime minister led the official declaration and activated the campaign symbol, calling for unity across all sectors in eliminating corruption.
Anutin addressed Thailand’s 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranking of 107th globally, stating that this highlights challenges that must be urgently addressed. He stressed the importance of strengthening national transparency standards to restore confidence both domestically and internationally.
Four key policies were introduced to guide the country’s anti-corruption efforts: reinforcing prevention systems with measurable results, applying digital tools to improve transparency and public access to information, ensuring fair and consistent enforcement of the law, and promoting a culture of integrity with strong protections for whistleblowers.
Government agencies have been directed to develop action plans to improve Thailand’s CPI score. Progress will be continuously monitored to build a more transparent and accountable public sector over the long term.
Prime Minister Anutin also recognized the work of agencies and individuals supporting anti-corruption efforts nationwide. He called on all Thais to reject corruption in all its forms and to take an active role in building a society based on fairness and integrity. (NNT)
