The Education Ministry is planning measures to ease parents’ financial burden ahead of the new term, including discounts on uniforms and supplies and allowing reuse of existing items.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Education Minister Prasert Chandraruangthong has announced the ministry is preparing measures to ease the financial burden on parents ahead of the new academic term as the country faces rising costs linked to the energy situation. The plan was discussed during a meeting with senior officials and relevant agencies at the Ministry of Education.

The meeting considered the government’s direction to prepare for potential impacts from the global energy situation. While schools are currently on break, officials have been instructed to compile data and be ready to implement energy-saving measures if the Cabinet requires it.

To reduce expenses for families, the ministry is preparing a discount campaign on school supplies and uniforms, and allowing students to continue using existing items in good condition. Officials said the approach will help lower costs while maintaining teaching and learning standards.

The ministry also reviewed work arrangements for civil servants, with remote work options subject to Cabinet approval. Schools will continue on-site instruction, especially for programs requiring practical and laboratory work, to ensure effective learning. (NNT)
