BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Culture is proceeding with the nomination of traditional Thai attire, or Chud Thai, for inclusion on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Culture Minister Sabeeda Thaised noted that Chud Thai is receiving international recognition through the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who is preserving and promoting Thailand’s cultural heritage. This effort continues the legacy of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, whose dedication laid the foundation for preserving Thai textiles and Thai culture.

The Department of Cultural Promotion is leading the preparation of Chud Thai’s nomination for UNESCO recognition as intangible cultural heritage. This initiative aims to highlight Thai craftsmanship and national identity embodied in Thai traditional attire to the global community. (NNT)
