BANGKOK, Thailand – Sports Authority of Thailand Governor Dr. Gongsak Yodmani led a press conference on September 9 under the theme “9/9: 90-Day Countdown—Unite Thais to Cheer for the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games.” The event was held at Beacon Zone 2, CentralWorld in Bangkok, with strong participation from Thai and ASEAN media, national athletes, and officials. Among those in attendance were Thana Chaiprasit, Vice President and Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand; Natthaphon Na Songkhla, Director of the Cultural Diplomacy Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Pheephakorn Niamyai, Senior Diplomat (Advisor); and Charnwit Munikanon, President of the Sports Association for Intellectual Disability of Thailand and representative of the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF).
Also present were Prodpran Samanmitr, SAT Deputy Governor for Professional Sports and Boxing; Preecha Lalun, SAT Deputy Governor for Sports Excellence and Sports Science; and Thatchanat Thongprakob, SAT Deputy Governor for Strategy and Information Technology. Dr. Gongsak confirmed that Bangkok, Chon Buri, and Songkhla are fully engaged in preparing to host the 33rd SEA Games, which will be held from December 9 to 20, 2025. Nakhon Ratchasima will host the 13th ASEAN Para Games from January 20 to 26, 2026. He stressed the importance of national readiness across all sectors over the next 90 days.
The press conference also saw the unveiling of the official SEA Games theme song, “1%,” a collaboration between Thai rapper F.HERO (Nattawut Srimhok) and singer-songwriter V Violette (Violette Wautier). Six Thai national athletes—Vareeraya Sukasem (skateboarding), Warawut Saengsriruang (jujitsu), Jormkon Pumseenil (esports), Rungroj Thainiyom (para table tennis), Sasipaporn Janthawisut (volleyball), and Atcharaporn Kongyot (volleyball)—took part in the event to share their motivation and preparations for the games.
Following the main briefing, the athletes participated in a campaign titled “INSPIRE THE GAME: Sports Clinic to Ignite Dreams,” held at Eden Zone, also on the first floor of CentralWorld. The clinic featured live demonstrations and athlete interactions that drew steady public interest. The event served to create excitement and increase engagement ahead of Thailand’s hosting duties.
To extend outreach nationwide, the awareness campaign will continue with a roadshow and Troop Caravan across the host provinces. Scheduled stops include Chon Buri in October, Songkhla in November, and Nakhon Ratchasima in January. The activities are expected to help build momentum leading up to both the SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games. (NNT)
