Thailand holds public forum on PM2.5 crisis and proposed clean air laws

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Minister Yotchanan Wongsawat participated in a public forum in Bangkok on efforts to address Thailand’s PM2.5 air pollution crisis and proposed clean air legislation.

The forum, organized by the Office of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand at the Rama Gardens Hotel, included discussions involving government agencies, civil society groups, and public representatives. The Prime Minister’s Office also sent representatives to observe the discussions on behalf of Permanent Secretary Yupha Taweewattanakitborvon.



The event was divided into two sessions covering challenges related to dust pollution and forest fires in Thailand, along with talks on future legal and policy approaches connected to clean air measures and PM2.5 management.

The forum provided each participant with an opportunity to gather views and recommendations on the impact of air pollution and potential long-term solutions. The information gathered during the discussions could later be submitted to the Cabinet, Parliament, and related agencies for further consideration. (NNT)
