
BANGKOK, Thailand – Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Russ Jalichandra welcomed Professor Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, during the latter’s visit to Thailand as a guest of the Ministry.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the strong bilateral relations, which have spanned over 70 years. They discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in education, religious studies, and culture, as well as collaboration on humanitarian assistance to Palestinians.
The Grand Mufti reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to establishing a regional Arabic language center in Thailand, citing the country as a model for harmonious living in a multicultural society. In response, the Vice Minister welcomed the proposal, stating it would benefit both Thai students and the general public. Mr. Jalichandra also expressed appreciation for Egypt’s ongoing scholarship programs for Thai students. (NNT)
