BANGKOK, Thailand – On August 28th, 2025, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, Jiraporn Sindhuprai, presided over the opening ceremony of Pakk Taii Design Week 2025 in Songkhla province. The event, running from August 28th to September 7th, is a collaboration between the Creative Economy Agency (CEA), Songkhla province, and partner networks from across the 14 southern provinces.

Minister Jiraporn stated that the South is rich in cultural capital, natural beauty, and local wisdom, which can be developed into various creative industries. She said this can lead to job creation, income generation, and significant new investment. She affirmed the government’s support for Songkhla and other southern cities to become leading creative hubs on the global stage.

Now in its third year, the festival is being held in Songkhla’s Old Town and Hat Yai under the theme “South Paradise.” It promotes a “De-Stress Economy” model, aiming to transform well-being into economic opportunities for the region by linking the economy with quality of life and tourism.

The minister added that the government is expanding the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) network to 10 new provinces nationwide. In the South, new TCDC centers in Phuket and Pattani are expected to be completed in 2026.

The CEA currently organizes four major design festivals, including events in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the Isan region. This year, the Bangkok and Isan festivals generated an economic value of over 2.9 billion baht. The Pakk Taii and upcoming Chiang Mai design weeks are expected to add at least another 1.4 billion baht in economic value. (NNT)
