NEW YORK, USA – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow and Maltese Foreign and European Affairs Minister Chris Fearne signed a memorandum of understanding in New York on September 23, establishing a political consultation mechanism between the foreign ministries of Thailand and Malta. The signing took place during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The agreement provides a formal channel for consultations on bilateral relations, regional affairs, and areas of mutual benefit. Thailand has proposed hosting the first round of bilateral consultations in Bangkok. The two ministers also discussed opportunities to expand practical cooperation between Thailand and Malta and deepen bilateral ties. The two sides then exchanged views on regional and international issues of shared interest and explored areas for closer engagement between the two countries. (NNT)
