Thai rock star Sek Loso released on parole after prison sentence

Thai rock musician Seksan Sukpimai, known as “Sek Loso,” is greeted by supporters after being released on parole under electronic monitoring conditions following his imprisonment in Phetchaburi province.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prominent Thai rock musician Seksan Sukpimai, widely known as “Sek Loso,” has been released on parole from a temporary prison in Phetchaburi province under the condition that he wears an electronic monitoring (EM) bracelet. The 51-year-old musician was previously sentenced to prison over a 2017 incident involving firearms offenses, resisting arrest, and drug use.



Upon his release, Sek Loso was welcomed by his wife and a group of supporters. The musician expressed gratitude to his supporters and credited a royal initiative by the late Princess Bajrakitiyabha, which focuses on sufficiency economy principles, for helping him reflect during his time in detention. He stated that the experience taught him mindfulness and urged others to avoid illegal drugs and unlawful activities.


During his time in prison, Sek Loso wrote songs, taught music to inmates, and organized musical activities. He announced plans to return to his music career and focus on his family. Sek Loso received a sentence reduction of 5 months and 20 days from his original term of 2 years, 12 months, and 20 days. His remaining sentence stands at 2 years, 6 months, and 30 days, with full completion scheduled for December 13, 2027. Under the terms of his parole, he must strictly adhere to probation conditions while wearing the tracking device until his sentence concludes. (TNA)
