Dr. Tares said the Public Health Ministry has issued a set of five regulations, to ensure the quality and safety of COVID-19 vaccination services and to prevent exaggeration in the advertising of vaccines.

The Public Health Ministry has stated that private hospitals, offering COVID-19 vaccines to their customers, are required to follow the ministry’s regulations on COVID-19 vaccine advertising.

Department of Health Service Support (DHSS) Director-General Dr. Tares Krassanairawiwong said the Public Health Ministry has issued a set of five regulations, to ensure the quality and safety of COVID-19 vaccination services and to prevent exaggeration in the advertising of vaccines.

He said, although alternative vaccination services will help accelerate the country’s bid to reach herd immunity to COVID-19, the ministry has to protect consumers against exaggerated claims and ensure fair competition among private providers of vaccination services.

Dr. Tares added that any COVID-19 vaccine must be registered with the Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) for use in Thailand and be approved by the TFDA for advertising. Every advertisement for a COVID-19 vaccine must be submitted to the DHSS or the provincial public health office for approval. (NNT)
