The Free Youth group ended its anti-government protest on July 18 after police used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse demonstrators.

Free Youth led 14 other demonstration groups at the Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Avenue to demand the ouster of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. Then they headed for Government House on the same avenue to file their demands which also included the reduction of military budgets to fund efforts to cope with COVID-19 and the procurement of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines as main vaccines to control the disease.

At about 3.40pm demonstrators tried to remove razor wire and police used a water cannon and then tear gas and rubber bullets to stop them. In response, rally leaders led their followers to Nakhon Sawan Road instead.

At 4.46pm demonstrators approached Chamai Maruchet Bridge in front of Government House. Police used a water cannon and tear gas and demonstrators retreated to Nang Loeng intersection. There they burnt effigies and their representatives announced to end the rally at 6.30pm. (TNA)
