BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has directed Ministry of Interior executives to prioritize transparency and restore public trust following recent local administrative corruption cases. The Prime Minister attended a high-level policy meeting on July 28, with Deputy Ministers Polapee Suwunchwee and Jeseth Thaiseth, and Permanent Secretary Unsit Sampuntharat. He announced a comprehensive organizational reset starting in August. He emphasized that his dual leadership roles will streamline operations, maximize public benefits, and improve living standards. He assured officials the restructuring will be based strictly on performance.
In response to recent fraud in local administrative examinations, the Prime Minister called for prompt, decisive action with independent oversight agencies, including the National Anti-Corruption Commission. He emphasized removing corrupt individuals to protect institutional integrity and restore public trust. He also reiterated the ministry’s core directives, instructing provincial governors to strictly enforce measures against illicit drugs, human trafficking, illegal entertainment venues, and unlawful land ownership. In preparation for upcoming diplomatic engagements, the Prime Minister directed border province governors and senior officials to compile data on natural resources, disaster management, and cross-border narcotics.
