Thai PM heads to China to deepen trade, investment and AI cooperation

Thai PM Anutin begins a five-day visit to China, holding talks with top leaders while promoting trade, investment, artificial intelligence, and broader bilateral cooperation.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has begun an official visit to China through July 20 at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang. The trip, including visits to Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing, is expected to expand economic cooperation and further develop relations between the two countries, now in their 51st year of diplomatic ties. In Shanghai, Anutin is scheduled to meet President Xi Jinping and attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. In Chengdu, he will preside over the opening of the Thailand-China (Sichuan) Investment and Economic Forum 2026 and inaugurate the Investment Section at the Royal Thai Consulate-General to support investment promotion in western China.



The prime minister will also meet leading Chinese companies and Thai business executives operating in China to discuss trade and investment opportunities. In Beijing, he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Premier Li and meet Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. Anutin will also witness the signing of agreements between Thai and Chinese government agencies covering trade, investment, agriculture, public health, science, technology, education, and media. (NNT)
