BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra chaired the first meeting of Thailand’s National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy Committee (1/2025) to advance the country’s AI capabilities and prepare for global technological competition.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that the world is changing rapidly, and Thailand must act without delay. “Over the past 10 years, Thailand’s growth has been relatively slow. The emergence of AI and enhanced technologies is a turning point we can no longer afford to postpone,” she said.

The National AI Committee was established to oversee and direct AI development in multiple sectors, ensuring Thailand becomes a serious player on the global stage. The committee’s mission is to steer the national AI strategy, integrating cutting-edge technology to drive innovation, economic growth, and long-term competitiveness.

PM Paetongtarn also stressed the importance of human capital development, saying Thailand must educate its people to better understand and adapt to AI technologies. “Strategic implementation and AI literacy will be the foundation for Thailand’s sustainable technological advancement,” she noted.

The meeting marks a milestone in Thailand’s commitment to positioning itself as a key player in the global AI ecosystem. (TNA)
