Thai government pushes faster budget disbursement to drive jobs, income, and economic recovery

PM’s Office Minister Paradorn Prissananantakul vows to speed up budget disbursement, stressing transparency and efficiency as over 150 billion baht in public investment moves into the economy.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister’s Office Minister Paradorn Prissananantakul, in his capacity as supervisor of the Budget Bureau, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expediting budget disbursement to ensure state funds enter the economy swiftly and efficiently. He emphasized that investment expenditure, in particular, plays a vital role in generating employment and boosting income across the country.


Paradorn noted that he has been closely monitoring the progress of budget disbursements and has instructed the Bureau of the Budget to urge all government agencies to expedite the use of funds under the Fiscal Year 2026 budget and the 2025 economic stimulus package. He stressed that every step of the process must remain transparent, accountable, and cost-effective.

The 2025 economic stimulus budget totals 157 billion baht. This budget, which comes from funds previously earmarked for the Digital Wallet project, has seen 131.141 billion baht formally allocated to various agencies. Of this amount, 57.166 billion baht has already been disbursed, leaving 73.974 billion baht remaining. Over 52 billion baht is currently under signed contracts, while the rest is in various stages of procurement.


The Minister added that tens of billions of baht in upcoming public investment funds will soon enter the economy, providing essential momentum for economic recovery, job creation, and income growth. He stressed that the government will continue to accelerate disbursements while ensuring transparency so the benefits reach the public quickly and effectively. (TNA)
