BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the deadly school shooting in Nonthaburi, ordering government agencies to provide urgent assistance and compensation. Government spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek said on August 7 that the Prime Minister offered his condolences following the shooting at Debsirin Bang Kruai School in Nonthaburi, where a male student carried out an attack that left several people dead and injured. She said PM Anutin had instructed relevant agencies to coordinate immediate support and provide assistance to victims and their families.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Paradorn Prissanananthakul, who chairs the Prime Minister’s Office Disaster Victim Assistance Fund, is scheduled to hold a meeting to consider financial support based on previous government compensation measures. Under the proposed assistance framework, families of those killed will receive 1 million baht, while compensation will include 700,000 baht for permanent disability, 200,000 baht for serious injuries, and 100,000 baht for minor injuries.
The Ministry of Justice’s Rights and Liberties Protection Department has also begun providing assistance under the law on compensation for crime victims and related expenses for defendants in criminal cases. “The government extends its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and those injured in this incident. Government agencies are working together to provide comprehensive assistance in line with the instructions of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul,” Ratchada said.
