The flooding followed a sudden surge in the river on August 26, prompting the embassy to coordinate with Nepalese authorities to verify the safety and whereabouts of Thai citizens who may be in affected areas.
Preliminary information from the Nepal Tourism Board indicates that authorities are verifying the status of 384 travelers, comprising 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepalese nationals. No Thai fatalities have been reported in connection with the flooding so far.
Thai Ambassador to Nepal Donnawit Poolsawat advised Thai nationals in Nepal to closely follow official announcements, avoid disaster-affected areas, and comply with safety instructions issued by local authorities.
