A Thai couple is accused of using a luxury lifestyle and business connections to attract investors in an alleged cross-border scam that left victims facing losses of tens of millions of baht.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Several alleged victims have come forward to Thailand’s Crime Suppression Division, accusing a Thai husband-and-wife team of orchestrating a sophisticated investment scam that reportedly caused losses exceeding 38 million baht. The case gained public attention after former Crime Suppression Division officer and film director Pornpisit “Jadaeng” Wanta accompanied a Hong Kong businessman to meet investigators and provide information about the alleged scheme. The businessman is described as a close associate of international superstar Andy Lau and was involved in coordinating opportunities for Thai action star Tony Jaa in the film industry.

According to information presented to investigators, the couple allegedly created an image of wealth and business success to gain the trust of potential investors in Thailand and abroad. Victims claim the pair promoted investment opportunities while allegedly referencing the well-known Thai currency exchange brand SuperRich to enhance their credibility. Authorities said additional complainants have continued to come forward since information about the case became public on May 26. Some alleged victims are preparing formal police complaints, while others have already initiated civil court proceedings in an effort to recover lost funds. The most recent reported victim is said to have suffered losses of more than 38 million baht. Family members are currently gathering evidence to support legal action while the individual receives medical treatment in hospital.

Investigators are reviewing evidence and witness statements as part of the ongoing inquiry. Authorities are also urging the public to exercise caution when approached with investment opportunities that promise unusually attractive returns or rely heavily on personal connections, luxury lifestyles, or claims of association with well-known companies.
