The Royal Thai Navy has begun strict enforcement of a maritime blockade in the Gulf of Thailand, designating waters near Cambodian ports as high-risk zones to prevent the transport of fuel and strategic materials, following an order by the Joint Commanders of the Armed Forces effective December 14, 2025.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Joint Commanders of the Armed Forces have ordered strict maritime measures to block the Gulf of Thailand and prevent the transport of fuel and military supplies to Cambodia by sea.

According to the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) spokesperson, the Joint Commanders have ordered a maritime blockade to disrupt the shipment and export of fuel and strategic materials that could strengthen Cambodia’s ability to threaten Thailand.

As part of these measures, waters near Cambodian ports are now designated as high-risk maritime zones. The operation aims to limit Cambodia’s logistical and operational capacity that could impact Thailand’s national security.

These measures took effect on December 14, 2025, and will be strictly enforced by the Royal Thai Navy under operational directives.

Authorities emphasized that these actions are intended to safeguard national security and prevent the use of maritime routes for activities that could undermine Thailand’s safety and stability. (NNT)
