The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to recommend a visit to Chaiyaphum province in Northeast Thailand, to see the beautiful scenery created by the Siam Tulip flower – or Dok Krachiao – that comes into full bloom each year at the beginning of the rainy season from June to August.
During this period, fields of the colourful flowers can be admired at the Pa Hin Ngam National Park in Thep Sathit district, and at Sai Thong National Park in Nong Bua Rawe district.
This year, the ‘Krachiao Flower Field Festival’ began on 18 June to celebrate this spectacular natural attraction.
The Krachiao flowers are typically white and pink. At Sai Thong National Park, both white and pink flowers can be seen, while at Pa Hin Ngam National Park, it is only the pink flowers.
The scenery and landscapes of the Northeastern region are particularly beautiful during the rainy season, and Chaiyaphum with its fields of Dok Krachiao is no exception.
TAT is encouraging tourists to experience the region’s natural attractions along the lines of “Isan green….travel in the rainy season” – reflecting Thailand’s increased emphasis on environment-friendly and sustainable tourism.
Chaiyaphum is one of the prominent destinations for rainy season travel, as it is known for its nature. Along with the Pa Hin Ngam and Sai Thong National Parks, there are also two others – Phu Laen Kha National Park and Tat Ton National Park – as well as Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary.
Another drawcard for visitors to Chaiyaphum during this time is the ‘sea of mist’ around cliffs in the national park areas, such as Pha Hum Hot in Sai Thong National Park, Pha Sut Phaen Phaen in Pa Hin Ngam National Park, and Pha Hua Nak in Phu Laen Kha National Park. (TAT)
