SURAT THANI, Thailand – Surat Thani province is preparing to host the “Suratthani Week Water Festival 2026” during the Songkran holiday to support tourism and local economic activity. The event will take place from April 12 to 15 along the Tapi River.

Governor Jumphot Wannachatsiri recently chaired a preparatory meeting with government agencies, local authorities, and related organizations to review progress and coordinate arrangements. Activities will be held along a riverside stretch of more than two kilometers, from Tha Pla Wan to Narit Bridge.

The festival will feature cultural events, entertainment, and traditional Thai activities, with authorities implementing safety measures, traffic management, and visitor services. Responsibilities have been assigned across teams handling venue operations, ceremonies, public communication, and security.

Officials said additional preparations include waste management, medical support, and monitoring of prices for goods and services, as the province prepares to ensure a smooth, well-organized event for both residents and visitors. (NNT)
