SISAKET, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun visited Pikulkeaw Kitchen restaurant in Kantharalak district of Sisaket Province to highlight its Thai SELECT 1-Star certification as a model for elevating Thai food standards and generating local economic value.
Pikulkeaw Kitchen received the certification in 2026 following an assessment of authentic Thai flavors, ingredient quality, hygiene, service, and atmosphere. The Sisaket Provincial Commercial Office supported the restaurant throughout the application and assessment process. Owned by Pikul Srikawee, the restaurant is in its 20th year of operation. The current location opened less than a year ago and is the only branch. The menu features Thai, northeastern Thai, and seafood dishes such as fried papaya salad, roasted duck with vegetable shoots, crab omelet, grilled prawns, and green curry with roti.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated that Thai SELECT enhances restaurant quality, builds consumer confidence, and expands business opportunities. The certification also links Thai cuisine with tourism and the creative economy, supporting income distribution to local entrepreneurs and communities.
Sisaket currently has two Thai SELECT restaurants: Tam Krathoei and Pikulkeaw, both certified at the 1-Star level.
The Thai SELECT certification has three levels. The 1-Star level recognizes authentic Thai flavors and trusted standards. The 2-Star level highlights creative Thai cuisine and professional service. The 3-Star level honors refined Thai cuisine and an exceptional dining experience. Each certification is valid for three years. The Commerce Ministry will continue to support Thai restaurant operators in improving quality, strengthening their unique identities, developing their brands, and reaching new markets.
