BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister’s Office Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi presided over the opening ceremony of the “Preserving Thai Culture Together: Loy Krathong Festival 2025” at the Public Relations Department (PRD) on November 3, celebrating one of Thailand’s most cherished cultural festivals.

Held under the theme “Thai Thai Loy Krathong—In Reverence to the Mother of the Land,” this year’s celebration honors Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother for her lifelong contributions to Thai culture and national identity. The theme also seeks to elevate Loy Krathong as a tradition of global cultural interest, showcasing its deep roots in Thai heritage and its symbolic connection to water and nature.

Attendees, including Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianwei, PRD Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem, senior officials, and PRD personnel, were encouraged to wear traditional Thai attire and to participate in the celebration with krathong baskets made from natural materials, promoting the importance of sustainability and environmental respect. The Minister also underlined the festival’s role in bringing communities together through shared cultural experience.

The three-day event, running until November 5, features Thai cultural performances, an eco-friendly “Green Krathong” contest, waste-free activities, and the “Ari Samphan Local Market,” highlighting local products and community engagement in cultural preservation. (NNT)
