Former Olympic boxing gold medallist Somrak Kamsing has acknowledged four charges related to sexual assault.

Mr. Somrak reported to the police at the Mueang Khon Kaen Station and provided DNA samples for scientific evidence.

The police have filed charges against him including taking a minor aged over 15 but less than 18 from their guardians for indecency, committing indecent acts against a minor through the use of force and attempted rape.

He denied all charges and requested a 15-day period to gather evidence for his defense.

He gave a brief interview, raising his hand in apology to the Thai people, his own family, and the family of the 17-year-old involved in the case.

The girl filed a complaint to the police in Khon Kaen on December 10, accusing Somrak of sexual assault. She said she met him at a pub before going to the hotel where she was sexually assaulted. (TNA)
