LAMPANG, Thailand – Freshly laid asphalt became dangerously slippery after rain, causing seven vehicles to skid off the road and hit trees on the Lampang–Phayao Road, opposite Mountain View Village in Pichai subdistrict. One person was injured while the rest were unharmed. Among the vehicles was a journalist’s car, which was en route to cover a story in Mae Mo district.
The journalist’s car, traveling in the rightmost lane, lost control on the wet asphalt, spun across the road, and went off the roadside. Within minutes, other vehicles traveling behind also skidded and collided, with some overturning.
Authorities, including rescue teams and Pichai police, subsequently closed the road section to prevent further accidents, as many commuters were traveling during the morning rush. (TNA)
