SING BURI, 23 July 2015, Sing Buri Provincial Prison held a disaster prevention drill, in accordance with the Department of Corrections policy of preparing officials for emergency situations.

The event was staged by the warden and her officers, simulating a scene in which an inmate took a civilian and an official as hostages in exchange for a clear passage from the prison. The criminal was described as being stressed over the legal proceeding for his case and the lack of family visits.

According to the warden, Sing Buri provincial prison is handling a large number of inmates. Thus, opportunities are high for a prison mutiny or a tension induced by density factor. She said the drill would prepare personnel for the worst case scenario and enable them to act efficiently in containing the situation as quickly as possible.
