BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C., is hosting the Sawasdee DC Thai Festival 2025 on September 14 at the National Mall, celebrating 192 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United States.
The festival, coinciding with the lead-up to the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, offers a mix of Thai food, music, art, fashion, and contemporary performances. More than 45 vendors are offering authentic and fusion Thai cuisine, alongside cultural showcases such as Muay Thai, traditional massage, handicrafts, and live performances that highlight Thailand’s heritage and creativity for both American and international audiences.
On September 12, a reception dinner in Washington welcomed guests ahead of the festival. Ambassador Suriya Chindawongse described the event as an opportunity to strengthen Thai–American friendship while sharing the vibrancy of Thai culture abroad.
Over the years, Sawasdee DC has become one of the most popular cultural events in the U.S. capital, serving as a platform for celebrating Thailand’s identity while strengthening ties between the two nations and their peoples. (NNT)
