BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Navy, through the First Naval Area Command, has instructed mariners in Trat province to temporarily refrain from fishing in certain maritime areas due to safety concerns tied to the ongoing Thai–Cambodian border situation.

Captain Nara Khunthothom, assistant spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, said a security assessment identified several high-risk zones where vessel operations could pose danger. Fishermen and boat operators have been advised to suspend activities in these areas until further notice.

The affected waters include areas south of Koh Chang, around Koh Kood, waters opposite Koh Yor, and coastal areas of Khlong Yai district in Trat province. The temporary suspension has been in effect since Dec. 14.

The Navy thanked local fishing communities for their cooperation and urged the public to rely on official announcements, citing safety as the top priority. (NNT)
