CHIANG MAI, Thailand – River tubing in the Mae Chaem River has emerged as a top summer destination for tourists seeking relief from Thailand’s sweltering heat, with the Ob Luang National Park reporting a surge in young visitors.

Located in Chiang Mai’s Hot district, the activity offers travelers a mix of adventure and scenic views of limestone cliffs and rock formations. To ensure safety, the park requires all participants to wear life jackets, with staff stationed along the route as tubes float through the “Ob Noi” area toward the finish line.

To accommodate high demand, the park has introduced a new 3-kilometer “short course” taking roughly one hour, alongside the original 7-kilometer trek which lasts nearly three hours.

The activity is now in its second year and requires advance booking via the Ob Luang National Park Facebook page. To manage crowds, the park limits service to four rounds per day, with 15 people per round. Fees are set at 150 baht for Thai nationals and 230 baht for foreigners. (TNA)
