BANGKOK, Thailand – A violent clash between rescue volunteers from two well-known foundations erupted early Wednesday morning on Lat Phrao Road, resulting in three people being shot and injured. Police believe the dispute stemmed from competition over assisting an accident victim.
At around 1 a.m., Wang Thonglang Police Station received a report of a shooting involving rescue teams near the entrance of Soi Lat Phrao 122, in Bangkok’s Wang Thonglang district.
At the scene, officers found pools of blood and five spent bullet casings scattered across the pavement. Three people were injured in the incident.
Two of them — Mr. Jirayut, 27, and Mr. Akkaradech, 36 — both members of the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and chest, respectively, and were rushed to Lat Phrao Hospital.
Another victim, Ms. Jittiwa, 25, a volunteer with the Siam Ruamjai Foundation, was shot in the abdomen and sent to Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital.
Investigations revealed that both rescue teams had arrived at the same location after receiving a call about a motorcycle accident. A verbal argument broke out as they began providing aid, which quickly escalated into a brawl and then gunfire — with 5–6 shots fired.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning witnesses and victims. The suspected shooter, described as a man wearing a T-shirt and knee-length shorts, fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Authorities believe the shooting was fueled by rivalry over rescue territory and competition to respond to emergency cases first. Police are now working to track down the gunman and bring him to justice. (TNA)
