RAYONG, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas visited the Sumipol Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTEC) at Amata City Rayong Industrial Estate last week to review workforce development for advanced manufacturing. He was accompanied by Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) Secretary General Narit Therdsteerasukdi, and other officials.
SIMTEC presented its manufacturing workforce programs and progress in seeking BOI investment promotion under the Skill Bridge measure, which supports the development of highly skilled personnel for new investment and emerging technologies. The delegation also met participants in the Green Transformation for Next-Generation Factory Leaders program under BOI STEM++, which has attracted about 900 registrations.
Participants demonstrated how skills gained through the program have been applied to factory operations and the transition toward advanced, sustainable production. The delegation also toured SIMTEC’s Learning Factory, where trainees use simulated manufacturing processes to analyze production problems, test technologies, and develop practical industrial skills. Skill Bridge, BOI STEM++, and practical training at SIMTEC are expected to help better align workforce capabilities with future investment, advanced technologies, and modern manufacturing. (NNT)
