BANGKOK, Thailand – The Public Relations Department (PRD) won the first runner-up at the “LLM Research Challenge Thailand 2026,” highlighting its leadership in domestic Artificial Intelligence development. The award ceremony on March 20, 2026, at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), recognized the PRD’s Digital Technology Division for its innovative work under the “MHESI for AI” policy.
Team B01 from the PRD surpassed more than 110 competitors to win a 40,000 baht prize for developing a high-performance Thai-language Large Language Model (LLM) prototype. The project seeks to turn academic research into practical solutions, improving public access to government information with greater speed and accuracy.
The team’s winning entry, “PRD News Assistant,” is an intelligent system that summarizes, analyzes, and verifies news for the department. Developed with Generative AI and NECTEC’s “ThaiLLM” technology, the assistant offers automatic news summarization for concise daily updates, trend analysis to identify emerging patterns, fake news detection to filter misinformation, and reliable data insights verified through rigorous testing and user validation.
This achievement represents a significant milestone in the PRD’s digital transformation and demonstrates the department’s readiness to adopt advanced technology. The PRD is aiming to reduce Thailand’s reliance on foreign technology and build a strong digital foundation for the nation’s future. (NNT)
