BANGKOK, Thailand – The Center for Air Pollution Mitigation reported national air quality monitoring results for January 3, 2026, at 7:00 A.M. Most areas met the PM2.5 standard, but levels exceeded the limit in Nonthaburi, Bangkok, Samut Sakhon, Lamphun, and Samut Songkhram.
Region by region, the North saw a single area exceed safe PM2.5 levels, with readings ranging from 5.2 to 38.5 µg/m³. The Northeast enjoyed clear skies, with air quality remaining comfortably within good levels, ranging from 10.1 to 29.1 µg/m³. The Central and Western regions also faced one concern, with PM2.5 levels ranging from 18.0 to 42.8 µg/m³. The East maintained healthy air at 10.5 to 28.4 µg/m³, and the South continued its streak of consistently good air quality, with values from 13.9 to 23.1 µg/m³.
Within the Bangkok Metropolitan Area, four locations stood out as hotspots, as monitoring stations from both the Pollution Control Department and the city administration detected PM2.5 levels between 18.3 and 41.6 µg/m³.
The center reports an optimistic forecast for January 4 to 10, 2026. PM2.5 levels are expected to drop between 6 and 9 January across Bangkok, its surrounding areas, the Central and Western regions, the 17 northern provinces, the Northeast, and the East. However, some areas will still need to stay alert. The South is set to continue enjoying clean, healthy air. (NNT)
