The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has announced a partnership with the Phuket Provincial Administration and local tourism businesses to transform the province’s annual vegetarian festival into an international showcase event.
The partnership was announced at a press conference attended by Phuket Governor Narong Wunsiew, TCEB director Patanachai Singhavara, Muang Phuket deputy mayor Prasit Sinsaowapak, and Phuket Tourism Business Association president Thanet Tantipiriyakit.
With Phuket serving as one of Thailand’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) cities, Patanachai stated that the collaboration is in line with the government’s policy to revitalize the country’s tourism through the promotion of local and national events.
The TCEB director added that the 2022 Phuket vegetarian festival, which takes place between September 26 and October 4, will afford residents and businesses the chance to promote local culture and generate much-needed revenue in the wake of the pandemic.
As part of the event’s promotion, the TCEB is also assisting local businesses in hosting the Gastronomy Chef’s Table event to highlight the festival’s exceptional character and culture.
The deputy mayor of Muang Phuket, meanwhile, stated that the city has collaborated with locals to decorate the town and the main street where the vegetarian festival procession will be held. He added that visitors to the festival would be treated to a variety of popular regional dishes and foods created specifically for the occasion. (NNT)
