KRABI, Thailand – Foreign tourists, particularly Europeans, are returning in large numbers to the Phi Phi Islands in Krabi as the Andaman coast enters its high season, with more than 3,000 visitors arriving daily. Tourists are reaching the islands by ferry and speedboat from Klong Jilad Pier in Krabi Town, Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara Beach, as well as from Phuket. Visitors include overnight guests and day-trippers, while accommodation on the islands offers more than 4,000 rooms.

The busy atmosphere is bringing renewed activity to hotels, restaurants, shops and beachfront businesses. Visitors are enjoying the beaches, swimming, island-hopping excursions and evening entertainment. The high season is expected to continue until around April.

Krabi Governor Angkur Silathewakul said the province was coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure tourist safety on land and at sea throughout the busy season. Participating agencies include the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Centre, Tourist Police, Marine Police, Marine Department and national park officials. Their responsibilities include accident prevention, emergency assistance, visitor safety and travel support.

The governor also reminded tourists to follow local regulations and traffic rules, monitor weather conditions and official safety warnings, and choose activities suited to their physical condition.

Krabi is also preparing a series of tourism events from December onwards, including the annual Red Cross Fair, New Year celebrations, Ao Luek Love Festival, Lanta Lanta Festival, Peranakan Festival, Halal Food Festival and a film and romance festival. The province hopes these events will attract more Thai and international visitors, further supporting tourism businesses during the peak travel season.
