More than 4.1 million people have requested reviews of their State Welfare Card eligibility, while authorities expand verification services to ensure qualified residents continue receiving government support.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The government reports that over 4.1 million people have requested reviews of their eligibility for the State Welfare Card program, as authorities are expanding support to ensure qualified residents retain access to benefits despite challenges with required procedures. Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek stated that agencies are coordinating identity verification, eligibility reviews, and public communication to help applicants meet deadlines.

Of the 9.5 million people who passed the eligibility assessment, 6.3 million are existing cardholders who do not require further identity verification. The remaining 3.1 million are newly approved applicants who must complete electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification. As of August 2, 2026, over 2.1 million newly approved applicants (69%) had completed verification, while about 980,000 (31%) had not. Of those who did not initially pass the assessment, over 4.1 million (44%) have requested reviews. About 5.2 million others remain eligible to submit requests by August 31, 2026.

The spokesperson noted that services are available through the Tang Rat and Paotang applications, the program website, five state-owned banks, and One Stop Service centers at all 878 district offices nationwide. These centers offer additional support to older adults, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable residents who may have difficulty using online services. District offices will forward review requests to relevant local agencies for verification. Village headmen and local administrative organizations will support community outreach to help ensure eligible residents are not overlooked.

The spokesperson reiterated the government’s firm commitment to ensuring no eligible citizen misses out on state welfare due to inconvenience or lack of information. Remaining new applicants and eligible appellants are urged to complete their processes before the deadline. (NNT)
