The Tourism Authority of Thailand introduces a weekend special train from Bangkok to Pattaya, offering scenic coastal stops, wildlife parks, aquariums, and food experiences along the Eastern Line.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand presents a relaxing one-day railway journey aboard special excursion train No. 997 on the Eastern Line. The route connects Bangkok, Chonburi, and Pattaya through seaside attractions, aquariums, local food experiences, and family-friendly destinations along Thailand’s eastern coast. Operating every Saturday and Sunday, this short train ride offers a convenient weekend getaway for travelers seeking a brief escape from Bangkok while enjoying a slower, more scenic way to travel by rail.

  • For the animal lovers

The journey includes a stop at Khao Kheow Open Zoo, one of Chonburi’s largest open zoos, where visitors can explore wildlife habitats in a natural setting and enjoy educational animal activities suitable for all ages. Along the route, Arun Farm Village offers agricultural tourism experiences, including countryside scenery, outdoor workshops, and hands-on activities such as animal feeding, in a peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere. The area also gives travelers a chance to slow down and spend time outdoors away from the city.

  • Dive into something different

Walk through a 105-metre underwater tunnel at Underwater World Pattaya and come face-to-face with sharks, stingrays, and giant freshwater fish. Prefer the wild and weird? Monster Aquarium brings exotic creatures and hands-on exhibits, while Art in Paradise — Thailand’s largest 3D illusion art museum — is practically begging for your camera roll.

  • Eat, sip, and explore

The route also highlights seaside seafood dining, café-hopping experiences, and Thai culinary culture. Bann Thai Food Museum presents interactive exhibitions exploring the origins of Thai ingredients, regional food traditions, and the cultural identity behind some of Thailand’s best-known dishes. The museum offers a fun way to learn more about Thai food culture while also enjoying modern exhibition spaces and photo corners.

Running every Saturday and Sunday, this is one of the easiest day trips you can take from Bangkok.
