Search and recovery teams used off-road vehicles to navigate the rugged, muddy terrain.

SARABURI, Thailand – A 38-year-old man riding an off-road motorcycle died after trying to flee from a swarm of wasps, becoming separated from his group and falling into a ravine at Khao Huai Phi Lok in Kaeng Khoi District, Saraburi.

Rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation in Saraburi were alerted by a group of off-road riders who reported that their friend had been chased by wasps, causing him to flee on his motorbike in a panic. He became lost and had not been seen since May 1.

The missing man, identified as Noppadol, had gone on an off-road trip with around ten fellow riders. His relatives said that during the ride, the group encountered a swarm of wasps, prompting everyone to scatter in different directions. Noppadol was not seen again. His friends searched for him in vain before contacting authorities on the morning of May 2.

The rescue team faced challenging terrain, fallen branches, and muddy, rain-slicked paths. They used off-road vehicles and dirt bikes to reach the search area, about 5 kilometers into the forest. By the afternoon of May 3, they found Noppadol’s white dirt bike lying on its side, and shortly afterward discovered his lifeless body at the bottom of a 10-meter-deep ravine. He was found lying on his back and already stiff.

Rescuers spent nearly 9 hours extracting the body from the mountain. Kaeng Khoi Police have sent the body for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and will question the group of friends to complete the investigation. (TNA)

Noppadol’s dirt bike was found on its side near the edge of the ravine.
