BANGKOK, 26 April 2015  – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) will discuss the impeachment of former ministers and official implicated in rice subsidy irregularities at the end of the month.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai has set a meeting for April 30 and May 1 to continue the impeachment process against former Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom, former Deputy Commerce Minister Poom Sarapol, and former Director-General of the Foreign Trade Department Manas Sroyploy.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission recommended the impeachment of all three men after the agency found them guilty of causing financial damage to the government and abuse of power in relation to the rice subsidy program.

In addition to the impeachment, the NLA will review a number of draft laws and an agreement, including the draft Maritime Labor Act, the draft organic law on anti-corruption, and the draft Public Assembly Act.
