NCPO to uphold HM the King’s advice in national development effort

BANGKOK, 11 July 2014 – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha has pledged to adhere to royal advice and philosophy of His Majesty the King as a guideline in developing the country. 

Gen Prayuth announced on his “Return Happiness to the People” TV show that the NCPO would gratefully apply the sufficiency economy philosophy of His Majesty the King as well as the royal advice of “understand, reach out and develop” to its operations towards the goal of national development.

With a people-centered development approach, Gen Prayuth affirmed the NCPO would strive to uplift Thai citizens’ quality of life, end their poverty and ensure their financial security. At the same time, transparency would be promoted in the public sector while an emphasis would also be placed on fair competitions and inclusive development in a bid to narrow social disparities.

The NCPO has adopted a nine-point strategy in accordance with the 11th national economic and social development plan, which includes fostering social equality, building a society of lifelong learning, ensuring food and energy security, restructuring the economy for higher growth, and eradicating corruption in a sustainable way.
