BANGKOK, Thailand – The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) has extended registration for water bill assistance under the 2026 State Welfare Program through September 30, 2026.
Deputy Interior Minister Jeseth Thaiseth stated that the extension aligns with updated Ministry of Finance criteria and provides eligible households additional time to access assistance. This measure aims to reduce living expenses for low-income and vulnerable groups. The MWA has been directed to prepare its service systems, staff, and registration channels for residents of Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan.
MWA Governor Suwara Thawitchasri stated that eligible households will receive up to 100 baht per month, limited to one entitlement per household registration or address. For bills over 100 baht but not exceeding 315 baht, the government will contribute 100 baht and recipients will pay the remainder. If the bill exceeds 315 baht, recipients are responsible for the full amount.
Recipients must complete identity verification at least one day before registering with the MWA. Those who register by September 30 will receive benefits starting with their November water bill.
Current beneficiaries under the 2022 State Welfare Program will continue to receive assistance through their October bill. Benefits are not retroactive. Those who do not register by September 30 may complete identity verification and register by the 25th of any month. Their benefits will begin the following month. (NNT)
