BANGKOK, Thailand – A high-speed accident involving modified cars left 10 vehicles severely damaged on the expressway toward Bang Pa-In, authorities reported. Dashcam footage captured the moment around 12:59 a.m. on August 16, showing three white cars racing closely together before one lost control, spun, and was struck by a following vehicle, triggering a chain reaction. Some vehicles came dangerously close to falling off the elevated roadway.
The accident blocked two lanes, scattering car parts and debris across the road. Expressway rescue teams and Pak Kret police spent more than three hours clearing the scene, towing damaged vehicles, and cleaning spilled oil and fragments to reopen traffic.
One victim, 29-year-old Achitpol, owner of a BMW involved in the crash, recounted that he was driving his girlfriend home from work when a speeding white car struck the rear of his vehicle. His car spun and was hit again by another fast-moving vehicle. The first car reportedly fled the scene. His girlfriend sustained a head injury and was taken to the hospital.
Police from Pak Kret district said the cause of the accident is under investigation. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to determine whether illegal racing was involved. If confirmed, all responsible drivers will face legal action. Fortunately, no fatalities occurred, and the injuries reported were minor. (TNA)
