
CHACHOENGSAO, Thailand – A 40-year-old man narrowly escaped drowning after his truck rolled into the Bang Pakong River while he was sleeping in the vehicle by the riverbank. The incident occurred at 12:30 AM near the Bang Pakong Bridge on Theprattan Road (Bangna-Trad), Km 51, in Tha Kham Subdistrict, Phan Thong District, Chachoengsao Province.
According to police from Bang Pakong Police Station, they received a report about a truck that had fallen into the river. Upon arrival, rescue workers found a brown pickup truck submerged in the river. The driver, Chitsanuphong, was standing wet on the riverbank, recounting the incident.
He explained that before the accident, he had gotten into an argument with his wife and decided to park by the river to rest. While lying in the truck, his leg accidentally nudged the gear shift, causing the vehicle to roll forward and plunge into the water. Realizing the danger, he quickly opened the window and managed to crawl out of the truck before it sank completely.
Passersby who saw the truck rolling into the water tried to help by tying the truck with a rope, but were unable to stop the vehicle from sinking.
