Livestock Industry Development Center gives out milk products for World Milk Day

CHIANG MAI, 31 May 2015  – The Livestock Industry Development Center (LIDC) host activities for World Milk Day today, promoting the benefits of consuming milk and as tribute to Lord Buddha on the occasion of the Vesak day.

LIDC Director Amphon Waritthitham has said that the center will hold the ‘World Milk Day as tribute to Lord Buddha’ activity today, from 4:30pm onwards, by distributing milk products in front of the Chiang Mai Provincial Livestock Development Office to pilgrims at Doi Suthep, on the occasion of the Vesak day. This year’s World Milk Day happens to be the same day as an important Buddhist day, Vesak day.

1st June of every year is named the World Milk Day by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. World Milk Day is a day dedicated to raising the awareness on the benefits of milk consumption in many countries.

Campaigns and activities on World Milk Day in Thailand has been organized every year by the Department of Livestock Development, the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
