Lampang and Nan send riot police to help keep order during Bangkok protest

LAMPANG, 10 October 2013 – The commanders of Lampang and Nan police on Wednesday dispatched riot police from the provinces to Bangkok to help ensure order during the scheduled demonstration by an anti-government group between October 9-17.

188 policemen were dispatched from Nan province. They were armed with full anti-riot gear, and equipped with provisions meant to last at least 7 days. The riot policemen will reinforce Bangkok police officers in keeping order around the Government House until the 17 of October.

In Lampang province, 170 riot policemen were dispatched with similar gears but with additional vehicles such as vans and prisoner transporting vehicles.

While most of the policemen will be on duty in the 3 districts surround Government House, some will be assigned to ensure order at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
