Minister Phipat said that the committee, chaired by Pairoj Chotikasathien, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, will hold another meeting on May 14th to deliberate further on this issue, with an anticipated decision announcement on October 1st.

The Labor Minister emphasized that he cannot interfere with the Tripartite Committee’s decisions, as it operates independently. He mentioned that any announcement about a wage hike on May 1st would merely signal that the government is moving forward with the implementation phases of this policy.

He highlighted that with the rising cost of living and consumer prices, he believes it is appropriate to announce another wage increase soon.

The government plans to declare a new national minimum wage of 400 baht for all business sectors by October 1st, following initial discussions that began on April 13th. This move is seen as necessary to keep pace with economic demands and support the workforce adequately. (NNT)
