Israeli officials to meet with Employment Dept. on work conditions of Thai labor in Israel

BANGKOK, 31 May 2015 – Director-General of the Employment Department Sumet Mahosot is to have a meeting with Amnon Ben Ami, Director-General of Population Immigration and Border Authority (PIBA) of Israel and his delegation on Monday in order to discuss working conditions for Thai workers in Israel.

Gists of tomorrow’s meeting will be on the development of Thai workers’ quality of life and working conditions ranging from health care, control of drug abuse to Israel’s new tax laws which impose higher tax on Thai workers.

The Israeli delegates have requested to observe Thailand’s procedures of selecting Thai workers for overseas jobs such as the checking of physical fitness at hospital. They will also visit families of Thai workers from Udon Thani who are now under hiring contract in Israel.

In the workers’ hometown, Israeli delegates intend to collect information about the sudden unexpected death syndrome which usually happens with Thai labor. For families of workers who have died in accidents in Israel, PIBA will discuss their rights and benefits after deaths with their families.
