PHUKET, Thailand – Phuket Governor Nirat Pongsithithaworn has made it crystal clear: everyone visiting the island plays by the same rules — no exceptions.
As part of a major crackdown on tourist misconduct, the Governor recently called together foreign representatives, police, security officials, and immigration officers to lay down the ground rules. The message is that Phuket welcomes visitors from all over the world, but every single one of them must comply with Thai law.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Embassy in Thailand has now officially warned its citizens traveling to Phuket and Thailand:
- Zero Tolerance — Thai authorities have been ordered to strictly enforce all laws. No leniency, no exceptions.
- Maximum Penalties — Violators will face the heaviest punishments allowed under the law.
- Visa Cancellation — Serious offenses will result in the immediate revocation of the right to remain in the Kingdom.
- Driving Without a License — You WILL be taken to court. No warnings, no second chances.
This is a landmark moment — a foreign embassy proactively reminding its own citizens to respect Thai law before they even land. That’s the kind of cooperation Phuket has been working toward.
The message from Phuket is simple: Come and enjoy paradise, but come with respect for the culture, the people, and the law. (PRD)
