PATTAYA, Thailand – A Grab food delivery rider stopped a sedan in the middle of Pattaya Second Road before the two sides got into a fistfight in front of Thai and foreign tourists, prompting bystanders to intervene. A 32-second video circulating on Facebook shows a Grab delivery rider riding along Pattaya Second Road, before honking and waving for a sedan to pull over. After the sedan stopped, the men from both vehicles got out and immediately began exchanging punches beside the road. The fight took place in front of pedestrians and tourists in the area, prompting several good Samaritans to step in and separate the men.
The two sides then left the scene. Police arrived shortly afterward. A reporter later visited the area and spoke with 24-year-old witness Malisa, who said she had been sitting near an ATM when she noticed the motorcycle approaching with a passenger riding pillion. She said the rider honked and signalled for the sedan to stop. Once the car pulled over, men from both sides got out and began fighting.
Malisa said she believed the confrontation may have stemmed from a dispute over driving, possibly involving cutting each other off, but she did not know the actual cause because she had not witnessed what happened before the confrontation. She said the fight lasted only briefly before people nearby intervened and the two sides left separately. Malisa said such incidents should not occur on public roads because they frighten residents and tourists and could put other road users at risk. She urged motorists to remain calm and resolve disputes through discussion rather than violence.
