Bangkok – The Interior Minister is certain that the country’s political situation will remain calm after the Songkran holiday.

Gen. Anupong Paochinda said that individuals with the ability and desire to serve the country and its people are always welcome.  Further, the Interior Minister does not see the current situation as something that is heating up but as a phase in political evolution that is continuing.

He also confirmed that Thailand is soon to hold an election and everyone in the country should contribute to the betterment of the country.

In addition, Gen. Anupong said that he has not been informed of reports about a political party being set up to support the current government and that he therefore has no comment on the topic.
